FACTS

Fighting Mental Health Stigma with Facts, Passion, & Consistency.
People with mental illnesses are often denied help in society because others fear they are too dangerous.
Ontario Human Rights Code states "every person has a right to equal treatment with respect to services, goods and facilities, without discrimination due to [their] identities..."

Many people with a mental illness tends to experience many different types of discrimination at the same time. EX: discriminated for their culture and mental illness

Mental illness does not target just one type of person. It does not matter how old you are, what race, how educated or how much they make.

Suicide is the main cause of deaths for young people, resulting in 24% of deaths for 15-24 year olds and 16% for 25-44 year olds.
About 10-20% of youths experience mental illness, with depression being the most common. But only 1 in 5 of those youth will ask for help.
When correctly diagnosed and treated, a person with depression or bipolar disorder can have a stable and healthy life. Millions of people already do.
Seeking treatment is a smart choice that takes strength. Mood disorders are not flaws or weaknesses. Seeking treatment means a person has the courage to look for a way to feel better.

Being picky or anal is not OCD. The obsessions and compulsions cause serious distress and are time-consuming acts that interfere with work, activities, and relationships.

OUR MENTAL HEALTH DOES NOT DEFINE US. WE ARE A PERSON FIRST!
Everyone has a different story and we are all unique.
NEGATIVE WORDS HURT. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.
